| So I'm here in Fayetteville in the middle of Bikes Blues and BBQ... one of the best town festivals I have ever been to. 200,000+ visitors. The entire town is roaring with the sounds of cubic centimeters. So to celebrate the event, Tiffany and I finally went out and took the motorcycle test so now we have our permits. Today at lunch we will go down to the revenue office (or whatever it's called...), wait in line for hours on end and get new licenses with "M" endorsements. That way we can look at all the pretty bikes and know that if we had the money for a bike we could be riding it.
Today Tiffany has her Committee Proposal Meeting... since she works with blackberries we went out last night and searched the entire town for everything we could find with blackberries for her to serve her committee. All we came up with were some preserves, danishes (which she had to put canned blackberries on), and some blackberry/apple/lemon/cucumber juice from Ozark Natural Foods. Needless to say, when we tasted the juice it was so good that we quaffed the entire dixie cup sample we were given. Hmmm... Cucumber juice! Anyway... she is in the meeting as we speak so please be praying for her... God is not a bound by time so if you pray for this evening, God will hear right now :)
God bless all of you. I am sorry this is just a normal "this is what is going on in our lives" post... and also that I have been too busy to post more often. It's going to be another busy week so I may not get to do a post again for a little bit. Have a stupendous weekend!
| Here you go guys... a new word for the week. (If it's anything like last time, it's the word for the month:)
quaff \KWOFF; KWAFF\, transitive verb: To drink with relish; to drink copiously of; to swallow in large draughts.
So I guess I quaff water like a hoss...
So I was prepping a lesson for youth and was reading in 1 Chron. about David's mighty men. There were "the three" and "the thirty" as well as two who really didn't fit into any of the two categories. I was thinking about what made the difference between the regular fighters and some of the mighty men. It wasn't just that the mighty men were able to kill a lot of people, though they did do that. It wasn't just that they were loyal to David and God, though they were. It was that they excelled at what they did above everyone else. In order to excel, you need to have motivation. The typical motivations will take you pretty far, but the ultimate motivation that will never let you down is worship. In everything that the mighty men did, they were worshipping God. We need to do this to be the best we can be.
In summary, as Christians, we are called to be the best we can be. In order to do this we need motivation. The best motivation in the world is worship of our Creator. Do your best at everything you do!
| Hello to all who sincerely believe that I have fallen off the face of northwest arkansas. In reality, I have been busy figuring out ways to irritate U of A fans... I was thinking, how about if I were to scream Eioos gip oow!!! in honor of the U of A upside down longhorn symbol? Or maybe if I release 50 pigletts onto the field and scream Eioos gip oow!!! Or maybe if I were to paint a big Longhorn over the razorback at the corner of Dixon and Razorback. Maybe I could unctuate the place on the field where Big Red does all the flips and stuff... Hmmm.. what about if I were to photoshop a picture of Big Red into a picture of the Powder Puff Girls? What about if I were to replace the huge Mascot Razorback Hog with 50 doves... I think that'd look pretty cool... What about if I "accidentally" died all the football player uniforms burnt orange... How about if I were to make a huge sign and post it in the union sharing with everyone Vanderbilt's very sad record from the past few years??? As you may be able to tell, it is football season here and everyone is rabid. At the vanderbilt game, while the student section was rioting, and in addition to the many expletives being yelled at no one in particular, one of the students threw an illegal whiskey bottle (I didn't know anyone smuggled alcohol into the student section!!!??? sarcasm*) and hit one of the ushers in the head, splitting it open and causing her to have a concussion. And you wonder why I don't like U of A football!!!??? I love the school and I like watching the other sports, but UA football is a little too much!!!
In reality, I've been very busy with school...many tests, quizes, papers, and projects in addition to my research. Orchestra season starts up in three weeks and youth group is going strong. I'm just trying to stay afloat! Blessings to you all.
BTW... I would never really do any of those things to irritate U of A fans... but I want to work out and get huge enough to be able to wear a UT shirt into the UA weight room :)
| I decided that the blog needed a new feature... Word of the Week...I will attempt to use this word in every one of my posts for the entire week... feel free to join me as well...
This week's word as found on dictionary.com is
unctuous \UNGK-choo-us\, adjective: 1. Of the nature or quality of an unguent or ointment; fatty; oily; greasy. 2. Having a smooth, greasy feel, as certain minerals. 3. Insincerely or excessively suave or ingratiating in manner or speech; marked by a false or smug earnestness or agreeableness.
I feel that this is a pretty important word seeing as how some of us often have the quality of an ointment... greasy, fatty, and oily. We could say I'm feeling pretty unctuous when we really mean I need a shower. Some of us are so smooth that it could be said, "That Aaron, he's a pretty unctuous guy..." Try to use this word a few times this week... I'll use it in all my posts.
I hope you are all doing well... It's been a while since I've seen most of you. Stay strong and keep in the word! It's the only thing that really matters.
Coming next post: Story Time!
| Well... I guess it's time for me to do a "normal" blog entry. Tiffany and I went camping Friday night down near Hot Springs. We had planned on camping two nights and doing a bunch of biking on Saturday. Unfortunately, we woke up at 4:30 in the morning to very loud crashes of thunder and lightning. We decided to pack up camp and not too long after were getting an Arkansas Car Wash. Yesterday for the first time I tried my hand at some Mountain Unicycling (MUNI). Needless to say, I'm a little sore... from both the strain on the quads and the bruise on my calf... It was fun, but quite exhausting. I think I'm going to have to build up some stamina! I would have gotten some pics, but we didn't think of it in time. Maybe next time... Today we're going to early service because we are going to have to work in the lab all day long. Lots of fun! Hmmm... I guess I don't have anything more to say... I'm not sure how much I enjoy just telling what I'm up to... I'd rather make things up I hope you are all having a wonderful day and staying strong. Smile, because God woke you up today!!! | | |
